Silver jubilee celebrations were the order of the day at one of Lancashire's most unusual schools. The highlight for the children at Weeton Camp county primary school, near Kirkham, was a surprise party. Then parents turned out for a reception plaque presentation. In its 25-year history the school has catered exclusively for Army children.

The biggest display of computers in Lancashire - around £2m worth - is expected to be seen by up to 1,000 top business people before it ends its three-day run in Blackpool. The show, put on by British computer giant ICL, has been attracting business bosses from all over the North West and further afield, including the Lancashire police delegation seen above
