Spanish horse riding challenge raises cash for cancer charity

Marie Curie Cancer Care is inviting residents from the Burnley, Pendle and Ribble Valley areas o sign up for their new Sierra Nevada Horse Riding Challenge.

This one-off event is taking place from June 29th to July 3rd, 2012 and is a five-day expedition which includes three days’ of horse riding adventure. Participants will explore the unique landscape of Southern Spain taking in sheltered valleys, lush gorges and mountain villages on the foothills of Sierra Nevada.

Vicky Profit, local fund-raiser for Marie Curie Cancer Care, said: “I am really excited about this unusual event and hope anyone who has ever enjoyed horse riding will jump at the chance to take on this challenge and support their local Marie Curie Nurses. I am sure our participants will have a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”

It is hoped this challenge will raise more than £80,000 for Marie Curie Cancer Care, whose nurses provide free care to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses in their own homes and in the charity’s nine hospices.
