Howard Watson, a grandfather of eight, will be playing the piano for 12 hours non-stop on his 69th birthday on June 16th.

He will be belting out tunes in his living room from 9am until 9pm and plans to have his windows open, allowing locals to enjoy a song as they pass by his house on Alma Avenue.

Retired Howard, who often plays the piano at weddings and funerals, is hoping to raise at least £1,500 for the local cause.

He said: “Pendleside Hospice gave fantastic care to my mother-in-law before she died and are currently offering wonderful support to my brother-in-law Barry. I hope people will donate to this worthy cause, which helps so many people locally.”

Due to Covid-19, the hospice is anticipating a great loss of income and is appealing to the community for help.
