East Lancashire NHS fundraising ‘back with a bang’ with the launch of The Big NHS Walk
Walkers across Burnley, Pendle and Clitheroe are being encouraged to put their best feet forward for East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust's first fundraising event since the start of the pandemic.
The Big NHS Walk, which has been organised by ELHT&Me, is an eight-mile walk due to take place on Sunday, July 4th, aiming at bringing NHS staff and the community together while raising valuable funds.
Money raised will be used to improve patient environment and experience at the Trust’s hospitals in Blackburn, Burnley, Pendle, Clitheroe and Accrington.
“We’ve received a huge amount of support from the local community through the pandemic, and we’re really grateful”, said Emma Heinicke, ELHT&Me community fundraiser.
“The Big NHS Walk is a chance for staff and our supporters to enjoy a fun day out together after such a challenging year, on the weekend of the NHS’ birthday too! We’re really looking forward to having the local community come together in aid of our amazing NHS.”
Registration for the walk is now open, with the ‘Earlybird’ ticket option available for just £20, with a group booking option also available.
Participants are encouraged to ‘Wear it Blue’ on the day, with the aim of a sea of walkers wearing blue outfits following the route across some of the most scenic countryside in the area.
“Funds donated to ELHT&Me make a huge difference in helping us go above and beyond for our staff and patients”, said Shelley Wright, director of communications and engagement and head of ELHT&Me.
“Taking part in The Big NHS Walk will help us to continue the work we do supporting staff wellbeing, enhancing patient experience, and improving the hospital environment, and is an opportunity for local NHS staff and our East Lancashire community to come together and thank each other for their support during a such a challenging year.”
