Burnley's new MP called in to NUDL Wok and Grill in Standish Street shortly after Geoff Bouchami told the Burnley Express of his fears.

Geoff, who opened the Indo-Chinese takeaway in November, revealed he noticed an 80% drop in sales at the end of January when news of the coronavirus outbreak began to spread.

The Burnley-born father-of-three also said that Just Eat (online food order and delivery service) had told him all the Chinese restaurants/takeaways locally were suffering and there had been a drastic drop in online orders.

However, he was glad of the boost that Mr Higginbotham's visit had given him, adding: "Antony Higginbotham, Burnley MP, called in this afternoon for a wok box. Top bloke!"

Mr Higginbotham told his Facebook followers at the weekend: "Earlier today I visited NŪDL on Standish Street, which you might remember from last week's Burnley Express.

"Fantastic food and excellent to hear from Geoff that it's booming. It's great to see new businesses take off in the town and can't recommend it highly enough."
