People aged in their 30s account for most infections in Pendle this week

People in their 30s suffered the highest number of new coronavirus infections across Pendle in the last week - although the total number is falling.

Residents in the 30-39 age bracket accounted for the most new cases, athough infections were down by 196 from the previous week, figures revealed.

In total, since the start of the pandemic, Pendle has recorded 9,034 cases, with a rate of 249.7 per 100,000 - one of the highest rates in the country.

Sadly, 225 people in Pendle have died from Covid-19.

A spokesman for Pendle Council said: "This week's statistics for Pendle show that lockdown is working. Pendle Council is urging people to keep following the lockdown restrictions, stay safe rules and advice to help us continue to reduce the spread of Covid-19.
