A total of 2,161 people have now died in hospital in Lancashire after contracting Covid-19.

The latest figures from NHS England show 111 COVID-19 deaths were recorded in Lancashire from Monday, December 28 to Sunday, January 3.

Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust recorded 30 fatalities, East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust recorded 49, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust recorded 16 and University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust recorded 16.

The statistics include patients who died in hospital - but not other places, such as care homes.
