Old fashioned sing-a-long and letters to the lonely help Burnley Beavers beat the lockdown blues

A good old fashioned sing-a-long has helped youngsters in Burnley to keep their spirits up during lockdown.

And although they couldn't sing together in person members of the 19th St Stephen's Beavers loved taking part in their first ever virtual meeting.

Along with singing the children wrote letters to post out to people who may be feeling lonely and they also did some seed planting and re potting of plants.

Leader James Barnett said parents said it was one of the most 'normal' things the children had done since the lockdown began and it had helped to lift them as many don't fully understand the pandemic.

James said: " We used zoom webinar technology and ran the programme using a PowerPoint so all the children could see each other throughout the meeting."
