No Covid deaths recorded in Pendle for sixth week in a row

There have been no new coronavirus deaths recorded in Pendle for the sixth week in a row, in a major boost for the borough.

Over the last seven days the number of cases has increased slightly though, after the last four weeks had shown a steady reduction in cases.

The number of new cases in Pendle is up by 13 cases to 32 compared to 19 the previous week, bringing the overall total since the start of the pandemic to 9,667.

The rate of infection is up for the first time in six weeks, to 25 per 100,000, compared to 21.7 per 100,000 last week.

This week the age group with most cases is 10 to 19 year olds.

The total deaths figure remains at 239 within 28 days of testing positive for the virus.

Overall deaths in Pendle where Covid-19 is on the death certificate is 275.
