The clap for carers events take place at 8pm on Thursday nights, initially a one-time thing done to show support, the effect it had on those in key roles meant that it is now becoming a regular part of lockdown life.

Residents from across the county used their hands, pans, car horns, fireworks and all sorts of different ways to make a bit of noise to show their appreciation to those that are helping to keep the country running.

One person that made their feelings known was 99-year-old NHS supporter Jenny Cooper who is from Longton in Preston, in the video above.

The Respiratory High Care Unit from Lancashire Teaching Hospitals also tweeted out a video of the police around the hospital clapping for the carers and helping to raise morale of those fighting the virus.

Inspector Greg Laidlow tweeted this video too, showing the police at Royal Preston Hospital doing their bit in the clap for carers event.

We've also found a few efforts shared on Twitter from around the Red Rose county, this tweet shows two young supporters of the NHS making use of a pan.
