That includes those who are undergoing treatment for cancer, people with severe respiratory conditions and pregnant women with significant heart disease.

“I welcome this extra funding for the council”, said Burnley MP Antony Higginbotham. “Local Government has a role to play, as we all do, in making sure that nobody is left behind and I’m pleased to see that the Government is providing the Council with this additional financial support for extremely vulnerable people in Burnley and Padiham.”

The funding is part of a first tranche which central Government is keeping under review, with additional funding to be provided to local councils should it be required.
