Sharon said: "We at CARES are delighted to be handing over this large sum to cement our commitment to raising the funds for an additional endoscopy suite. We’re appealing for local people to get behind our cause and help make this lifesaving extra suite at the hospital a reality.”

Kevin McGee, who was joined by Burnley MP and Shadow Minister for Health Julie Cooper, paid tribute to CARES and local people who have contributed to the fund-raising saying:

“We are really grateful to CARES for supporting us in our efforts to invest in additional capacity for earlier and diagnosis and treatment of cancer in our community. The kindness of local people in donating to this appeal is very much appreciated.”

Burnley MP Mrs Cooper said: “CARES is to be commended for its fantastic efforts in raising this huge amount of money for such an important cause. If the £525,000 target is reached, a new endoscopy suite will enable thousands of additional investigations to be undertaken each year, speeding up cancer diagnosis and saving lives. I know how much this means to the people of Burnley.”
