Charities get donations from Jane's Appeal

Pendleside Hospice has been handed £5,000 and the Dyneley Riding for the Disabled Group is to receive £500 from the Appeal, part of the legacy of the late Jane Tomlinson CBE, who raised £1.85m for children’s and cancer charities before her death from cancer aged just 43 in 2007.

Along with its inpatient unit, the hospice also employs a team of staff who provide care in people’s own homes.

The donation from the Appeal will help pay for a refurbishment of its inpatient bedrooms.

Helen McVey, the Chief Executive of Pendleside Hospice said: “Pendleside Hospice are delighted to have received a grant from Run for All, towards refurbishment of its inpatient bedrooms.

“The money received will help to ensure that the inpatient environment is fit for purpose to meet the complex requirements of the patients who access its services.”

The £500 donation to Dyneley Riding for the Disabled will be put towards specialist equipment for riders, and help keep the ponies in hay this winter.

Catherine Dower, from Dyneley Riding for the Disabled, said: “On behalf of all our riders and volunteers I would like to thank the Jane Tomlinson Appeal for their very generous grant that they have provided to our group in Burnley.

“As we are 100% self-funding, this money will help us continue to offer another year of riding sessions for disabled children and young adults from the local area.
