Students decided to donate the money to the hospice as it is very much part of the community where they live.

After raising £354 and headteacher Miss Littlewood made up the rest to £400.

Head of Year Nine Miss Louise Blackey said she was very proud of her students.

She said: "Our pupils made the decision to donate this money and worked really hard all week giving up their own break times to raise money for the hospice.

"They did a fantastic job and should be really proud of themselves."
