The break-in at St James' CE, Lanehead, Primary School occured last week when the school was on its half-term break, and although no money was taken the damage is expected to cost around £3,000.

It follows a similar cost of damage last month after trespassers climbed on the school roof and damaged the ventilation system.

The school is fortunate that it is a cashless school and complete any banking immediately after any events.

Mrs Jade Bradley, school business manager, said: "We will be left to pay for all repairs and to replace damaged items, which with a reduction in funding we just do not have the spare cash available to subsidise.

"We pride ourselves in ensuring we can provide the best start for children but ultimately these repairs will take away from money we can spend on other resources for them."

To try and prevent this the school has set up a ‘Go Fund Me’ page which will allow it to cover the money needed for the repairs.
