Miss Elizabeth Foster, known as Betty, taught art at the former Towneley Secondary School in Burnley for many years. She displayed more than 20 of her watercolour and oil paintings in St Nicholas’s Parish Church, Sabden.

Betty has long been connected with the church and many years ago created a sculpture of Mary and Jesus entitled “Mother and Child” which still has pride of place there.

Among the works on display were several local scenes and images from the UK and the world, including some beautiful watercolours of Jersualem following a visit to the Holy Land.

Betty, who lives in Sabden, also has some of her work on display at Towneley Hall, Burnley.
