Primark primed for Burnley move as Wilko's new store is confirmed

Shopping retailer Wilko has signed a lease to relocate its Burnley store to new presmises, paving the way for Primark to move into the soon-to-be-vacated property on on Curzon Square.

In a statement, a Wilko spokesperson confirmed that the value home and garden retailer will relocate to a new 9,500 Sq ft store in The Mall Charter Walk in May, with their existing Wilko store on Curzon Square closing its doors on April 20th.

Wilko Retail Director, Anthony Houghton, said: “Burnley is a great city and relocating to our new location will provide strong opportunities for our business to grow alongside other popular high street retailers."

Clothing retail giant Primark is expected to take over Wilko's vacated premises, with the flagship high street giant originally expected to open before Christmas before Charter Walk Shopping Centre owners, Addington Capital, confirmed that the building will be handed over to Primark this autumn.

“The area attracts a high number of customers, making it a prime location for us to open in," Anthony added. "We’re proud to have served local shoppers for over 20 years and look forward to welcoming our customers to our new home on The Mall Charter Walk.”
