New residential addiction clinic opens in Burnley

The first residential addiction clinic has opened in Burnley.

Acorn Recovery Projects opened the doors to its newest addiction facility, in Westgate, the first residential abstinence based treatment centre in Burnley.

Clients struggling with addiction are able to live away from home in a friendly environment, while undertaking programmes to work through their addiction and towards long term recovery.

Sarah Hanson, managing director for Acorn Recovery Projects, part of the Calico group, said: “We are pleased to be able to offer 1st class treatment services delivered in a homely environment.

“The new service will allow us to offer the security and privacy needed to support clients into lifelong recovery, along with making a significant difference to the wider community as a result.”

Those undertaking treatment at the facility are required to be fully abstinent from all substances; Acorn can help clients work towards abstinence through its RAMP, Reduction and Motivation Programme, which operates within the community.

The building was officially opened by Christopher Lee, Lancashire County Council Public Health Specialist for substance misuse and tobacco, where staff and commissioners in the addiction field were invited to view the services available.
