Chance of a lifetime for local young people to secure a job at Daisy Communications

Local telecoms giant Daisy Communications is set to give back to the local community by offering five local young adults a job.

As part of National Careers Week, Daisy Comms has announced it is to take part in the government’s Kickstart scheme and is offering five young people the chance to get started in their career.

Five placements are available for people aged between 16-24 who are currently claiming Universal Credit and are at risk of long-term unemployment.

Placements at Daisy are within marketing, HR, product and service and each will be an initial six-month contract.

Chief executive of Daisy Comms, Dave McGinn said: “Daisy Comms are one of the UK’s largest independent suppliers of telecommunications but we’ve always been at the heart of our community. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted everyone but young people are faced with a bleak future when it comes to getting their foot on the career ladder.

“We’ve continuously strived to keep Britain working throughout the pandemic and we’re looking to play our part in building Britain’s future which is why we’ve taken advantage of the Kickstart scheme to offer five young people a fully paid six-month contract with us.

“We’re excited about the opportunity ahead and are looking forward to a brighter future and one we hope five young people will benefit from.”

As well as its participation in the Kickstart scheme, Daisy Comms has held several events to help the local community get back into work.

The Recruitment team attended a Virtual Careers Fair, hosted by Lancashire Adult Learning, where they gave a presentation about careers in telecoms to more than 400 people across Lancashire.

To further support Lancashire Adult Learning, Daisy Comms is also guaranteeing an interview for every attendee of the Business Administration and Customer Service course as the telecoms business looks to boost Lancashire’s career prospects.

Friends and family of employees at Daisy Comms have also been attending virtual CV and Interview workshops with the Recruitment Team in a bid to improve their job prospects. Daisy Comms held three workshops to ensure all age groups and needs were covered and there are plans for future workshop sessions.

“It’s a difficult time for individuals who are facing challenges in employment and are struggling with career progression. However, Daisy Comms want to give local people a chance and an entry route back into a job they can progress and thrive in which is why we’re doing all we can to help.”
