Your chance to cycle across South Africa or USA for charity

For those tired of short days and freezing weather, Marie Curie Cancer Care is offering two new cycling challenges across South Africa and the USA to help shake off the winter blues.

The charity’s South African Cycle Challenge will take you across the country’s stunning Garden Route, a scenic stretch of the coast of South Africa. The 380km challenge takes place over 10 days, with six days of cycling through national parks, forests and heathland, on the journey to Africa’s most southerly point and the Cape of Good Hope.

Or why not head to the USA and cycle from Yosemite National Park to San Francisco on a nine-day ride through California? The 400km challenge will take you through alpine forests, past lakes and over the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, before cycling across the iconic Golden Gate Bridge.

Stephanie Lacaille, Community Fundraiser, said: “Cycling is an amazing way to see a new country and our new challenges offer not only breathtaking scenery and warmer temperatures, but a fantastically rewarding experience for anyone with a bit of grit and determination. The sponsorship money raised will also allow more Marie Curie Nurses to provide free care to people with terminal cancer and other illnesses in their own homes.”

If cycling isn’t for you, Marie Curie Cancer Care offers challenges all year round - from runs, treks and triathlons to swimming, walking and dancing.
