Pupils across Burnley and Pendle are preparing to dazzle audiences with their spectacular showcase, Schools Gotta Dance, at The Burnley Mechanics this autumn.

“Many of the children involved will have never been in a theatre or danced on stage in front of an audience,” said Director Stephen Glover, of Stafford Sports and Performance Academy.

“We run the shows in different parts of the country but this is the first time we’ve brought one to Burnley.

“It’s a good opportunity for children to perform in a professional theatre without any pressure or competition. A chance like this might not otherwise be available to them.”

Offering rays of inspiration to encourage the young stars to shine brightly is a selection of talented singers from the area.

And among the artists joining them on stage is Youtube sensation, Sam Hollyman.

“He loves it and performs in all our productions,” said Stephen.

“It’s great to see the children inspired.”

A mosaic of genres and styles will be vividly painted, including ballet, street, contemporary and modern dance.

Starring are pupils from the following primary schools: Pendle Primary Academy; Holy Trinity CE; Padiham Primary; Padiham Green CE; St Mary Magdalene’s RC; Stoneyholme Community and Encore Dance School.

Stephen is hoping the show will match the success of June’s Burnley Schools Gotta Sing.

“The concert was awesome! The children performed in packed out theatres and there were some great soloists,” said Stephen.

And so hopes are high for another sparkling production allowing young talent to soar to grand heights.

And that means plenty of fun for audiences.

“Expect a mixture of genres,” Stephen added, “and a full evening of entertainment with lots of laughter.”

Schools Gotta Dance, which is being brought to town with the help of Burnley School Sports Partnership, will pirouette on stage on Thursday, November 23rd, at The Burnley Mechanics, starting at 7pm.

Tickets are priced at £12 each and can be ordered by visiting www.burnley or calling 01282 664400.

There are still a few slots available to any Burnley or Pendle school interested in taking part.
