PAID: Farmers’ Market, Hoghton, Sunday, July 15

Set in the Great Barn at Hoghton Tower, this is one of the original markets in Lancashire. It’s a celebration of fresh ingredients grown or reared locally. Farmers and growers are joined by bakers, confectioners and craftsmen and women to make it a great day out. It is a mecca for locals in the know so why not go along and see what it is all about. Admission is £1 per car or 50p for pedestrians. The market has a strict opening time of 10am, and runs until 2pm. The house and grounds are also open for guided tours. For more information visit

Catch ABBA Mania at Blackpool's Grand Theatre

Join The Victorian Ghost Hunter (Haunted Blackpool author and founder of Supernatural Events Stephen Mercer) on a Blackpool Ghost Walk as he guides you to some of Blackpool’s most famous, and most haunted, locations to hear of his friends; the spectres, the phantoms, the ghosts. Hear tales of terror and stories of the supernatural that will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Starts at 7.30pm from VisitBlackpool Tourist Information Centre. The flowers of Salthill Quarry Nature Reserve are at their best in early July, so what better time to take a walk round with former Lancashire Wildlife Trust Reserves manager, Phil Dykes, and learn about what there is to see? Tickets are £3 and must be pre-booked. The walk runs from 2pm until 4pm. The walk is approximately one mile. Suitable clothing and footwear is required. Head to Ormskirk for treats galore

There is sure to be something for everyone in the biggest two-day show in the North West. Some of the best livestock in the country will be in the main ring, along with horses, sheep, pigs, goats and rare breeds. The tractor pull will take place on both days and the show field will be packed with stalls, produce marquee’s and much, much more. Held on the Showground in Great Eccleston, tickets on the gate are £15 for adults; £2 for children to age 12 and £10 concessions.

Fleetwood Festival of Transport will take over the town

From 12pm until 4pm, witness Preston’s Flag Market come alive with the sounds of modern and traditional music. Dance and entertainment from around the world will take place, alongside a strong community element featuring performances from local musicians and dance groups.There will also be aromatic South Asian cuisine for you to sample and enjoy. The West End Festival has been going on since 1995 and this year the community will celebrate in style. There will be live music stages, featuring a range of styles from folk to rock to everything in between as well as lots of things to make and do. The West End Festival will see music of all genres being performed

With over 200 different classic and vintage vehicles on display along with fairground rides, stalls selling a wide assortment of goods, live performances and entertainment from Spareparts Arts, this event will surely have something to offer for all the family. As the hot summer days stretch out before us, what better event could you attend than an ice cream festival? Bringing together local ice cream makers and more artisan ice cream specialists, the Garstang Ice Cream Festival will have something for everyone including vegan and dairy-free ice creams and sorbets. There’s not just ice cream on offer though - you can also expect street food, stalls and entertainment, including live music. Runs from 12pm until 5pm on Garstang’s High Street.

Entartete present Shadowhouse in Preston

Head over to Longton tonight and tomorrow for a bumper two nights of live music. You can catch over 80s bands and artists playing at various venues throughout the area - that means a choice of over 140 performances! On the bill are bands like Crossbill, The Well Dressed Gentlemen, Deepwater Blue and much more. To catch any of these amazing artists you will need a wristband, costing £5, and this will gain you access to all venues and all performances. Under 12s will gain free entry. The Gingerbread Festival is in it’s third year and has outgrown Ormskirk’s traditional market and is now it’s very own event. Celebrating Ormskirk’s historic gingerbread, go along on Sunday to Ormskirk town centre and pick up some treats and enjoy the entertainment. This is one that the children will not want to miss!

This is a fantastic chance to take a look around Woodlands Animal Sanctuary in Tarleton. Parade your pooch around the main arena, watch a little doggie dancing and learn some new tricks. There will also be a fun dog show at 2pm. Plus music from the Michele and Uke Men in the main arena. You can also browse the many stalls, and food and drink will be available. Admission is £1.50 for children; £3 adults. It’s being held on Sunday, from 11am untill 3pm.
