THEATRE REVIEW: “The Winslow Boy” at The Octagon Theatre, Bolton, until April 21st.

Terence Rattigan’s wonderful turn of phrase is articulated to great effect in this excellent production.

His sense of humour also shines brightly – not least in the dance sequence between Catherine Winslow (Georgina Strawson) and Dickie Winslow (Iestyn Arwel).

When such writing is played out by an accomplished cast, the result can only be theatre that is enthralling – and that is what results here.

The play is based on a famous trial of the early 20th century when a father fought for justice for his son. Without giving away the end result, one thing I can tell you is that the Octagon fully does justice to a brilliant playwright.
