Theatre Review: The Glass Menagerie at the Octagon Theatre, Bolton

THE four cast members - Margot Leicester, Fiona Hampton, Nathan Wiley and Keiran Hill - deserve all the acclaim that comes their way after this outstanding performance.

They do full justice to the writing of Tennessee Williams, so much so that at times I forgot where I was because they drew me in so intensely - and I cannot pay them a bigger compliment than that.

This was a very personal play for Tennessee Williams, reflecting his own life and written partly out of guilt over what he felt was his desertion of his sister. The aforementioned cast, obviously acutely aware of fragilities that underpin the play, treat it with such tenderness that what they accomplish is to be admired and applauded.

The play runs until the 20th and tickets can be bought on 01204-520661.
