Basics Junior Theatre School in Burnley stages production of iconic hit musical 'Grease' that made stars of John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John

A cast of 40 senior students will take to the stage at the Pendle Hippodrome Theatre next week for the show that is set to blow audiences away. ‘Grease’ runs from Tuesday to Saturday, October 8th to the 12th.

Hide AdThe 2024 production, of the story of star crossed teenage sweethearts Danny and Sandy, promises to be another tour de force with the cast singing iconic hits such as ‘Greased Lightning,’ ‘You’re The One That I Want,’ “Summer Nights’ and ‘Hopelessly Devoted To You.’ Directed by Howard Raw with costumes by Sally Murtagh and hair and wigs by Jodie Forrest, these cracking photos are by Andy Ford.
Principal Andy Cooke said: “It’s incredibly rewarding to watch our young students grow as performers and individuals. Their talent is undeniable and some of the young people performing in Grease will no doubt be appearing in West End musicals in just a few short years.
“At Basics, it’s all about teamwork. Supported by industry-experienced professionals, we are a collective that is immensely proud of these talented future industry professionals.”

Hide AdThe school has welcomed over 200 new students into the Basics family that welcomes children from reception age with entry to the senior programme by audition only. Every year, Basics bid a fond farewell to talented students who go on to further their training at top vocational schools in London. Indeed, Basics has many former students performing in the West End and worldwide.
