Radio 2 folk musician of year to appear in CLitheroe

BBC Radio 2 Folk Musician of the Year Andy Cutting, a soulful and technically gifted melodean player, returns to The Grand in Clitheroe in a solo capacity next month.

He has previously appeared as part of the Martin Simpson Trio, but this time he performs solo, bringing forth the vibrancy of his instrument with him.

Andy Cutting is a rarity. A musician appreciated by audiences and musicians alike, and one very much in tune with the soul of the squeezebox.

A warm and emotive player, Andy engages his audiences with his self-deprecating wit and then floors them with downright staggering musicianship. There are few melodeon players who put so much feeling into their playing, whether it be a set of dance tunes, or accompaniment to a slow English ballad.

He is supported by local singer songwriter Glyn Shipman, who will be opening the show with his backing trio.

It promises to be a wonderful night of traditional music.

Doors open at 7-15 p.m. and tickets are £8.50 in advance.
