Mansfield Park in the park

TOWNELEY Hall is set to play host to Heritage Opera’s world premiere production of “Mansfield Park”.

Written by Jonathan Dove and based on the novel by Jane Austen, the highly anticipated show will take place on Monday, August 1st and Tuesday, August 2nd.

Chris Gill commissioned the production and said: “It would be no exaggeration to say that this opera has been paid for by our loyal audiences in the North, and we hope they will love it as much as we have grown to over the weeks and months of preparation. The music is simply beautiful, very melodic and approachable, and we are sure our fans will enjoy the result of their investment in us as an artistic force.” “Mansfield Park” tells the story of Fanny Price, a poor girl raised by her rich uncle and aunt. The arrival of fashionable and worldly siblings Henry and Mary Crawford sparks a series of romantic entanglements leading to an elopement and scandal. Heritage Opera has a rapidly-growing reputation for producing high-quality professional chamber opera in historic venues and stately homes.
