Jazz legend Miles Davis celebrated at Clitheroe’s The Grand

JAZZ legend Miles Davis will be celebrated in a not-to-be-missed concert at The Grand, Clitheroe.

Jointly promoted by The Grand and The Ribble Valley Zazz and Blues Club, the “Milestones” concert will bring to life the best selling jazz album of all-time.

“A Kind of Blue” by Miles Davis was confirmed as going quadruple-platinum (four million copies sold worldwide) in 2008. It also ranked as the 12th best ever album of any genre by a collection of critics in the Rolling Stone magazine.

For this stunning tribute, pianist Terry Seabrook leads a stellar cast of top UK based jazz players including Alan Barnes (alto/baritone sax), Graeme Flowers (trumpet), Ian Price (tenor sax), Spike Wells (drums) and Paul Whitten (bass).

“The performance pays due respect to the original, whilst allowing the musicians to express themselves,” explained Terry.

The concert also includes new arrangements of other Davis songs and a special homage to Davis composed by Seabrook himself, entitled Sketches of Miles.

The concert takes place on Friday, November 4th, beginning at 8 p.m. Tickets are available from The Grand Box Office (01200 421599) and more information is available at www.thegrandvenue.co.uk and www.rvjazzandblues.co.uk
