Irish folk musician brings his banjo to Colne

AN up and coming Irish folk musician will be performing at the Venue in Colne. Damien O’ Kane is earning a growing reputation for being a creative and exciting musician and singer. His excellent banjo earned him a Folk Award nomination in 2007. He best known for his work with Shona Kipling and Flook and has also been a member of Kate Rusby’s band. Damien released his debut solo album “Summer Hill” on May 3rd, featuring acclaimed musicians Ian Carr, Dave Kosky, John Joe Kelly and Michael McGoldrick.

Damien hails from Coleraine in Northern Ireland but he moved to England to study and since graduating from university has been performing all over the Europe. He will be playing at the Venue on Thursday from 8 p.m. More information can be found at www.damienokane.co.uk
