Iconic Burnley gig

Popular rockers I.C.O.N are returning to Burnley as part of a UK and Europe wide tour.

The Burnley-based metal band are playing the Sanctuary on Saturday after a whirlwind 12 months which has seen them already tour Europe, play with upcoming and established rock bands including Furyon, Conquest of Steel and Jaguar, gain an endorsement with Go to Hell clothing and receive mass rock radio airplay of their music.

In January the band were shortlisted for supporting well known British thrash band Evile by the band themselves and readers of Metal Hammer Magazine.

Their 2011 tour sees a return to Europe in the works, dates with thrash legends Lawnmower Deth and fast-rising rockers Godsized, and a full trek around the UK promoting their debut album “New Born Lie”.

The band will also soon release their first official video and are set to take part in the touring multi-band event known as Metalution.

Mark Sagar, Scott Knowles, James Henderson and Joe Nearney have steadily been establishing themselves as one of the UK’s biggest up-and-coming metal bands and are currently writing material and looking at producers for a follow up to their debut album. Recording and a release is scheduled for next year.

Entry to the Sanctuary gig is free and doors open at 9 p.m. Support comes from Doncaster-based metal band Immension.
