‘Copacabana’ comes to Burnley Mechanics

GLITZ and glamour is heading to Burnley Mechanics when Lola hits town.

The fabulously glam Barry Manilow musical “Copacabana” is being presented by Burnley Light Opera Society and the £30,000 production looks set to be a blockbuster.

Three professional dancers – Connor Barrie, Oliver Ormson and Michael Naylor – will be playing some of the “Copa” boys who strut their stuff at the Copacabana nightclub in New York as this sparkling song and dance spectacular hits the stage on Saturday, November 10th to the 17th.

And to mirror the Copacabana nightclub there will be cabaret-style seating at tables for those who wish to have a drink while watching the show.

Barry Manilow wrote the memorable songs and while the storyline is about love and intrigue, this production is all about dance and the Light Opera chorus-line always rises to the challenge set by professional director and choreographer Anthony Williams. Jonathan Chalker is the musical director and together they are set to bring a vibrant production to town.

Burnley’s very own Copa girl Jennie Miller (pictured) is one of the fabulous line-up in this colourful show.

Group chairman Colin Sanderson said: “You will have to go a long way to see a better show than this. Tickets are going really well and we want to be a sell-out.”

Call the Mechanics box office on 664400 to book tickets which are £10 and £13.50.
