Burnley singstar jets off

BURNLEY singing sensation Francesca Spedding is preparing for an unforgettable weekend of sun, sea and song.

The 24-year-old songstress will be singing at the exclusive Embassy nightclub in the Algarve, Portugal, after teaming up with Barcode and the organisers of Celebrity Soccer Six.

Francesca met Soccer Six founder Mark Abery, who also owns the Embassy nightclubs in the Algarve and London, when the celebrity tournament was held in town last year.

“When speaking to Mark I told him I was singer. We kept in touch and he flew me and my family out to Portugal so I could perform on New Year’s Eve at his club. He put us up in a five star hotel for four nights an it was an incredible experience.”

Now Barcode is organising a trip to the Algarve so everyone from in and around town can go along and watch Francesca when she returns to the Embassy on April 19th.

“They’re putting on a really good deal and there’s already around 50 people going,” said Francesca, who lives in Harle Syke. “There’s going to be themed nights and celebrities and it’s going to be an amazing weekend. I can’t wait.”

It’s quickly becoming a dream come true for Francesca whose life has revolved around singing from an early age.

“I started singing when I was around 10 years old. I’ve always performed covers really, the likes of Whitney Houston, Celine Dion and Mariah Carey. I did sing with The Commitments last year and lately I’ve started performing more indie and dance songs as well.

“I’ve also started writing my own stuff now and my aim now is to try and get signed. It’s been great to finally start writing my own material because even when I was singing with The Commitments in front of 5,000 people at the Monmouth Festival I was thinking to myself ‘it would be great to be singing my own songs right now’. Mark has helped me out a lot and has said I’ll be able to perform at some celebrity events over the next few months.

There’s also a good chance that Soccer Six could be coming back to Burnley in early June and I’d love to be able to perform there on the day.”

It’s not all about being on stage though for Francesca who works full-time as a staff nurse at Royal Blackburn Hospital.

“I sing at weddings every other weekend so along with my work, and I’m also studying for degree, it can get really busy. I love it though. ”
