Burnley Blues star Lucy is just ‘first-class’

PROMISING Burnley singer/songwriter Lucy Zirins was described as a “first-class songwriter” despite missing out on a place in a prestigious blues final.

The up-and-coming blues songstress narrowly missed out during the northern heat for the New Brunswick Battle of the Blues but gained many admirers in the process.

Radio presenter and songwriter Lucas Campbell hailed Lucy’s performance as memorable saying: “It was hard to believe that someone of 18 years of age could sing the blues and captivate the audience with convincing interpretations of such blues standards as ‘Death Letter Blues’.

“Surprisingly it was her own material which was outstanding and bore the hallmarks of a first-class songwriter who is developing her own engaging musical style.”

The electro-acoustic guitarist is already starting to cause big waves in the music industry following high profile gigs alongside Michael Messer, Oli Brown, Buddy Whittington, Louisiana Red, Walter Trout, Kyla Brox and Errol Linton’s Blues Vibe.

She recorded her first E.P. at just 16 and is hoping to release an album in the near future.
