Burnley band Sahara to donate proceeds of gig to charity

CHARITY begins at home, or so the saying goes.

Well for kind-hearted Burnley band Sahara, charity definitely begins at one of their gigs.

The four-piece are playing at Koko’s on Saturday, September 3rd, with all proceeds going towards Marie Curie Cancer Care.

The gig is one of a number they will be doing in Lancashire during the coming months as part of a “charity promise” they made at the start of the year.

Lead singer Nick Waite said: “We did a charity gig at the Pendle Hippodrome and we just thought it would be a good idea to carry it on. So we decided that all the gigs we did in Lancashire during 2011 and 2012, all the profits made would go to charity.”

Although this one is for Marie Curie the band have raised money for a number of other charities so far including Great Ormond Street and Cancer Research UK and Nick said they were always open to suggestions.

“We just want to help as many as we can and if anyone has any ideas then we would be more than happy to listen to them.
