Burnley band Columbia going strong

WITH the Rolling Stones currently rolling back the years on their 50th anniversary tour it’s good to see one of Burnley’s longest running bands still going strong.

They may not be able to get around the stage like they used to but Columbia are still a tour-de-force to be reckoned with on the live circuit.

The Burnley four-piece, comprising Sid Brown, birthday boy Pete Rowell, Alex Crawshaw and Chris Quinton never fail to put on a real show (no matter their level of intoxication), with a set list paying homage to the likes of The Killers, Kings of Leon, The Beatles and David Bowie.

The lads are playing The Venue in Colne on Saturday and band manager Thomas-Cain Ashton said revellers can expect a night to remember.

“They’re sounding really good. We usually struggle getting them out of Harle Syke and this is the first time they have played The Venue in Colne so it should be a good night.

“I can still see these lads playing the circuit in 30 to 40 years time and that’s testament to their hard work and effort.”

The gig is expected to start at 9pm. Columbia will also be playing at The Commercial, Harle Syke, on New Year’s Eve.
