‘Broken leg blues’ star Mitch to appear at The Grand, Clitheroe

BEING chosen as the tour support for one of the world’s greatest guitarists must be a huge accolade for any up ‘n’ coming young musician.

That is just what has happened for young blues sensation Mitch Laddie, who is supporting iconic US blues maestro Walter Trout at The Grand on Saturday, and throughout his current UK tour.

Hailing from the North East, Mitch combines elements of jazz, funk and pop along with the blues to create a sound that’s uniquely his own, and it’s all thanks to a broken leg! Forced to spend time in hospital at the age of 12, he whiled away the hours learning to play guitar seriously. His father would bring him in a new piece on each visit and Mitch would go for it.

He was attracted to the blues almost immediately. “Players like Stevie Ray Vaughan really pulled me over to the blues; I mean the emotion he displays in his playing is extraordinary,” said Mitch, whose second album, “Burning Bridges”, is released on March 26th.

Not surprisingly, he is delighted to be supporting another of his musical heroes, Walter Trout, who said of Mitch: “He possesses a potent, God-given gift... I was knocked out by the authority, command and finesse displayed – it’s way beyond his years.”

You can hear them both perform at The Grand this Saturday, March 10th, doors open 7 p.m. For tickets call the box office on 01200 421599. For more on Mitch, visit: www.mitchladdie.com
