Rob and Paul Forkan and their siblings Mattie and Rosie lost their parents in the tsunami and their lives were never the same again.

Aged from eight to 17, the four faced a harrowing and solitary 200k trek to safety and their resilience and strength was all down to their unconventional upbringing, which had seen their parents take them out of school at an early age and teach them independence and resourcefulness through travel and working in orphanages and for charities in India.

Since their parents died, Rob and Paul have created a multi-national brand, Gandy Flip Flops and set up Orphans for Orphans, giving 10% of their profits to support children deprived of education, nutrition and medication.

It’s a wonderfully inspiring book telling a real life tale.
