Book review: The Brockenspectre by Linda Newbery

This is a book for adventurers everywhere! It is a lovely story which follows Tomas who wants to be like his father, strong, brave and fearless.

Pappi is a mountain guide, who is often away from home and who has taught Tomas to love the mountains, but also to fear their danger, the winds and blizzards, treacherous paths and giddying slopes.

Tomas’s biggest fear is the Brockenspectre - a huge shadowy creature which lives alone in the heights, waiting for unwary climbers.

Its looming figure haunts his thoughts and dreams and when Pappi goes out one day and fails to return, Tomas knows its u to him to search, up on the high mountain pass, where dangers await.
