Book Review: Queenie by Jacqueline Wilson

FORMER children’s laureate and best selling author Jacqueline Wilson has a knack for telling good stories.

And Queenie is no exception. It tells the tale of little Elsie Kettle who is all excited about going to see the coronation of Elizabeth in 1953.

Elsie lives with her nan and she is desperate for a cat. When Elsie and Nan both contract tuberculosis, Elsie finds herself in the children’s ward of the hospital all alone.

And then along comes Queenie, a majestic white cat, who proves to be a real friend.
