ACE final expected - Effluence and The Strange star

THE wait is almost over.

After two insanely competitive semi-finals at The Grand in Clitheroe, just four bands remain in with a shout of winning a support slot at Liverpool Sound City.

White Swallow and Moral Panic, along with our very own Effluence and The Strange will be battling it out at the grand final of “Oh To Play Sound City” at the ACE Centre, Nelson, on Saturday. And anybody with a hint of passion for live music should get themselves there.

Although just missing out on a spot in the final at the Clitheroe show, local band UNM were also rewarded for a riveting live performance with an upcoming support slot to the Buzzcocks at The Grand on Friday, May 20th.

The competition, which has been organised through the Tony Wilson legacy Sound Investment, had bands competing across heats in Accrington, Blackburn and Burnley, with eight bands taking part in the Burnley heats, held at The Talbot.

Doors for the final open at 7-30 p.m. with the first band on at 8 p.m. Tickets are £4 on the door.

More details about the good work currently being done by Sound Investment can be found at www.soundinvestmentuk.com.
