BURNLEY

* A BAND inspired by the likes of Oasis, Stone Roses, Beatles and The Jam will be appearing at one of the town's favourite venues on Friday, September 12th.
Talented rock 'n' roll band Spitfire have been hitting all the right notes in recent times and are fast becoming one of the North West's hottest properties.

Catch the four-piece at Koko's in Elizabeth Street, Burnley, at 8 p.m.

* A HUGE day packed with bands, acoustic concerts and DJs hits Burnley Mechanics on Sunday, September 14th.

Tickets for the "Love Music Hate Racism" festival which runs from 1 p.m. until 11 p.m. cost just £5.

* NEXT up at Burnley Mechanics is "Wife Begins at Forty", a play presented by Burnley Garrick Club.

The play's protagonist, Linda, starts worrying about turning 40 a full three years before it even happens. Separated from her husband, George, Linda tries to "find herself" through aerobics, sculpting and other courses. But when George visits some weeks later he and Linda discover the flames of passion are not quite dead.

The play runs from Wednesday, September 24th to Saturday, September 27th, at 7-30 p.m. Ticket prices range from £5.50 to £8.50 and can be bought by calling 664400.

* FROM her Mercury-nominated album "Sleepless" to her acclaimed solo CD "Awkward Annie" plus collaborations with Idlewild's Roddy Woomble, Ronan Keating, Eddie Reader and Kris Drever et al, Kate Rusby has been a key figure in England's reinvigorated folk scene.

You can catch Barnsley's leading export at Burnley Mechanics on Tuesday, September 30th at 7-30 p.m.

COLNE

* LIMEHOUSE Lizzy, a band recently featured in BBC2 Arena's "Into the Limelight" documentary, are playing at Colne Muni, Albert Street, on Friday, September 26th.

The band present a stirring tribute to Philip Lynott and Thin Lizzy, and are currently riding the wave of a Thin Lizzy renaissance. 2007 saw them complete their "Dedication" tour, a celebration of some of the finest songs in rock history. Don't miss out! Call 661234 for more information.
