A TOP dancer who helped to train Take That's Jason Orange and was a star of the hit television show "The Hitman And Her", is hoping to unearth new talent in Burnley.
Clive Donaldson, aka "Wiggie", made his name on the hit show presented by Pete Waterman and Michaela Strachan and featured night clubs around the country.
The show is being relaunched on satellite channel Rapture as "Clubland UK" in October and Clive hopes plenty of local dancers will come to the fore.
Burnley bar KoKo's, in Elizabeth Street, will be a central focus of the new show, presented by employees Steve Jamieson and Louise Lorenzo.
Clive will run a fitness dance class starting on June 11th at nearby gym Invigor8 Health and Fitness in Parker Lane every Thursday and Sunday. This will feature street dance and contemporary break-dance.
He said: "Dancing is such a positive experience and a great form of exercise. I am sure there are lots of talented youngsters in Burnley and beyond. The enjoyment stays with you – I enjoy dancing now more than ever before."
A hip injury, caused by years of dancing at the top level, forced Clive to take eight years out – time he spent embracing other interests including singing and DJ-ing. That has manifested itself in a musical project called "De-Coded", a fusion of rock and dance, and the album "Live Learn and Die". He has also produced a single, "Boogaloo".
He added: "I have danced since I was a child growing up in Chorley, and dancing was initially my rebellion. I later learned from some very good teachers, but I also like watching other people dance. I pick up hints, collect them and mould them into my own style."
Clive's eclectic taste in music will be evident on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights at KoKo's where he will be resident DJ.
For more information on the dance classes call Rick Ireland at Invigor8 on 412800.
