Colourful antiques expert Anita Manning called in at Gawthorpe Hall when she was in the area filming an episode of the teatime favourite “Antiques Road Trip”.

The Scottish auctioneer was welcomed to the National Trust property by museum manger Rachel Pollitt, who showed her Gawthorpe’s world-class textile collection told her about history the 17th Century hall in Padiham.

She said: “Anita was very friendly and it was great to meet her and to have the opportunity to show the Road Trip team the splendours of Gawthorpe Hall.

“Luckily, the weather was kind to us, so we were able to enjoy a walk around the landscaped gardens as well as inside the hall itself.

“Anita seemed very impressed, particularly with the fabulous seventeenth-century panelling, the Victorian tiles and the wonderful textiles on display.”

The episode featuring Gawthorpe Hall will air in the spring. The series is made by STV Productions for BBC2.
