Children from a Burnley school went to MediaCityUK, as part of a research project into sustainable transport.

The youngsters from Worsthorne Primary were asked about a walking bus scheme at the village school and also had a tour of the BBC studios and joined their head teacher Louise Young on the set of “North West Tonight”.

The visit was arranged through Calico Creative which is working with children from six schools across the area to make animated films.

In addition to road safety, film topics encourage children and their families to adopt healthy lifestyles. The animation project is being paid for by Lancashire County Council.

Said Mrs Young: “Our pupils really enjoyed the visit. It was really exciting, and a really inspiring place to be. I think the children saw it as a really good opportunity to share their ideas, and to have their thoughts and suggestions listened to and taken seriously.

“Our walking bus project is really popular – we have about 47 pupils taking part every Friday.”
