A MODEL mum and daughter team from Burnley have been selected to star in a new TV advertising campaign.
Jenette Ingham and her 13-year-old daughter Jessica beat off competition from across Lancashire to be among those chosen for the first television commercial from The Mall shopping centre, in Blackburn.
They will also take to the catwalk for a series of dazzling fashion shows at a special launch day on Saturday, September 24th.
Mum and daughter will play those exact same roles as part of a fictional group of family and friends enjoying everything The Mall has to offer.
Filming for the commercial, which also features other people from Lancashire, went ahead earlier this week, and will be aired on Granada from October 10th.
Jenette, a beauty therapist who runs a business called Elegant Nails and Beauty in Padiham Road, said: “When we went along to the auditions, neither of us really thought anything would happen.
“It was more for the benefit of my seven-year-old daughter, Olivia, who is desperate to be famous. I encouraged Jessica to take part, but she only agreed to do it if I too would have my photograph taken.
“A day later we received a phone call to say we had been chosen.”
For Jessica, who attends Blessed Trinity RC College, being involved with the celebrations has special significance, as she has been recently diagnosed with a hereditary medical condition of the spine called scoliosis.
Jenette said: “Earlier this year, Jessica was diagnosed with the same condition that I have. It means that the spine grows with a curve in it.
“In our case, it’s a double curve which can have a major impact on your health.
“Jessica has been a real inspiration because she is determined not to let the condition undermine her, which is amazing because most teenagers are very conscious about how they look and what they wear.
“In fact, she is an inspiration to me and the rest of the family, as she refuses to let it beat her.”
The Inghams, who live in Ightenhill, will each receive a £200 gift card from The Mall.
The voucher will be especially useful to Jessica, who plans to buy new clothes for when she has to wear a back brace to help stop her spine from forming abnormally.
Loraine Jones, general manager at The Mall, said: “Our first advert and launch day is part of a huge campaign to show people how fantastic The Mall really is after massive investment and improvement in recent years.
“It was very important to us that our celebrations would be a true reflection of our shoppers.
“We had hundreds of entries for the auditions and it was really difficult to choose the winners.
“After much deliberation, we can safely say we have the perfect people for the job, including Jenette and Jessica.”
