The hit television show, Come Dine With Me, has made instant stars of the three Burnley competitors who battled it out for the £1,000 prize money.

DJ Kev Riley, a novice who admitted he had never switched an oven on before, has received 9,000 hits on his website and around 300 facebook friend requests since the show was aired last Friday.

“The response has been tremendous, unbelievable,’’ admitted Kev of Foxglove Close.

“I was so nervous before the show went out but someone came up to me in the street and thanked me for showing Burnley in a good light for once.”

Fellow contestant Sally Jacks of Ightenhill, who is a well known TV and radio presenter, performed a UK first on the show by auctioning herself on ebay! She is preparing to go anywhere in the UK to cook the meal she made on to the highest bidder. So far the total stands at around £1,500.

All the money she raises will go towards treatment for Darwen youngster Sam Shaw who is suffering from a rare form of cancer.

Sally said: “The auction ends on Sunday but people can also make donations, however small, please help this little boy.”

The Burnley trio was completed by Mark Dempsey who is the Hospitality and Business Manager at Burnley Mechanics Theatre.

He shared first place with Sally and the fourth contestant from Clitheroe.
