A Burnley actor is heading for the silver screen after landing a leading role in an upcoming gangster trilogy.

Graham Parrington, who is in his mid-40s, will begin shooting “Playing With Fire” in February.

The film, which is being shot in Blackpool and the surrounding area, is being funded by an American film company and will be screened in California this November.

“I saw it advertised and went for the audition,” he said. “It was a tough audition but I managed to get the part. I play a gangland boss. I’ve been reading the script, going over my lines and I’m really looking forward to it.”

A former Rosegrove Secondary Modern pupil, Graham started acting in the 1980s, appearing in numerous TV programmes and films including “Vroom” which starred Clive Owen.

He came out of acting in the early 90s but a year ago decided to give it another shot. “I’ve done a number of commercials, music videos, short films, soaps and been in a number of feature films,” said Graham, whose dad Arthur played for Burnley in the 1950s. “My last three or four parts have been speaking roles but this is one of my biggest yet. I’ve been signed up for the three films so at least I know I’m going to be there until towards the end as well.”
