RESURRECTING a true icon of country music, the Johnny Cash Rodshow will pay Blackburn King George’s Hall on Thursday, January 26th.
The band features award-winning Clive John as Johnny Cash, Jill Schoonjans as June Carter, Nick Davis on electric guitar and vocals, Alan Parker on double bass and vocals and Jim “E” Williams on drums and vocals. Together they present an energetic and entertaining celebration of one of America’s greatest music performers and the finest tribute to Johnny Cash – “The Man in Black”.
The Johnny Cash Roadshow will perform material from throughout Cash’s career including “Walk the Line” and “Folsom Prison Blues”, recorded with Sun Records in the 1950s, right through to “Hurt”, Johnny Cash’s last release in 2002. There are many stops in between bringing the audience all the favourites such as “Man in Black”, “Boy named Sue” and “The Ring of Fire”. The show also brings a focus on the duets Johnny and June sang and a very special feature with Jill Schoonjans on autoharp performing as June Carter would have.
From start to finish the band take the audience through the Johnny Cash live show experience. The chemistry of Johnny and June is also brought to the stage and accompanying video projection, which brings evocative images to each song, all help to complete the story of the life of a legend.
When not performing as Johnny Cash, Clive John is also a songwriter and performer in his own right and his latest album “The Spirit” was recently nominated for Best British Country Music Album of the year.
