THE sun shone bright as families enjoyed a fun packed day of festivities at Burnley’s annual May Day Festival.

Music from the Red Rose brass band and filled the air during the Burnley Trades’ Union Council parade through town to Towneley Park, where attractions included a funfair, hot air balloon rides, donkey rides and displays from the Pendle Dog Agility Club.

Speakers at event were Coun. Julie Cooper, leader of Burnley Council, Terry Renshaw from the Shrewsbury 24 Campaign and David Penney, of the anti-fracking campaign.
