Dog groomer-turned-singer Lisa Duckworth has raised £350 for a mental health charity - and isn’t giving up yet.

Lisa (40) who owns Dog Grooming by Lisa on Accrington Road, has suffered from mental health issues herself and in October decided to record her own battles through song.

Her single ‘Cover’ charted her battle with depression but she admitted it wasn’t all doom and gloom and the song ‘does get cheerier towards the end.’

She sold it for £4 in her shop or £5 on www.asongbylisa.com and raised £350 for Burnley Depression Alliance, who meet every Thursday night at North Street in Duke Bar.

And while Lisa is happy with the money she has raised so far, she says she has had some financial help to order another 100 CDs and keep the money rolling in.

“I asked David Fishwick, from Bank of Dave, if he could donate £100 so that I could order some more copies of my CDs and he did,” said Lisa, who has been involved in bands all her life.

“They are now on sale - £350 is a good start but I want to continue raising funds.”
